Imam Rayif Fevziyev was sentenced to 17 years in colony.

South District Court Martial sentenced 42-year old imam Rayif Fevziyev to 17 years in maximum security colony.

The decision was approved by judge Vjacheslav Korsakov.

“Even the murderers do not get such sentences. For a 70-minute conversation about Islam the man got 17 years”, – the lawyer Edem Semedliayev said, as Crimean Solidarity reports.

The Crimean Tatar imam denied the charges of terrorism and, in the course of court hearing, assured that the case against him was framed up because of his protective attitude to Crimean Tatar Muslims arrested before.

We remind you that Rayif Fevziyev is an imam (a clergyman), who graduated madrasah, a Crimean Tatar activist and a father of large family.

As reported by the CHRG, on the 17th of August, the law enforcement carried out mass searches in the houses of Crimean Tatars in occupied Crimea and Sevastopol. Five activists were apprehended: in Naknimovskyi District of Sevastopol the officers of the FSS took activists Rustem Murasov and Rustem Tayirov, in Balaklavskyi District of Sevastopol – Dzhebbar Bekirov, in Bakhchisaray and Simferopol Districts of Crimea – Zaur Abdullayev and Raif Fevziyev respectively.

The lawyer Edem Semedliayev was not allowed to be present at the search of Raif Fevziyev’s house.

All of them are being accused of participation in the Islamic political party called Hizb ut-Tahrir recognized as a terrorist organization in the territory of the RF, but not prohibited in Ukraine.
