On June 17, in Donetsk the militants seized Christian rehabilitation center “The Evening Light”. First, the they captured 27 patients, and then the center’s chief with his assistant. Now all the hostages stay in the basement with no medical supervision at all. This was posted on Facebook by Protestant pastor Sergey Kosyak.
"Today, the wives, children and relatives of the rehabilitants, clutching the last straw, came to the only functioning authority – Donetsk Municipal Executive Committee. In room 301 there was a meeting with Deputy Mayor Laktionov. All the time I was present at the meeting I saw fear and despair on the faces of relatives of the hostages, and I encouraged them as best I could”, says the pastor.
“At the City Council we contacted the Ministry of Interior Chief in Donetsk Seliznov who promised to help release the illegally detained civilians, half of whom being sick and in need of daily medical treatment. Then we turned to international observers with a request to protect the rights of civilians that were infringed even under martial law”, he says.
“I’m asking everyone to pray for this situation. Relatives of the kidnapped are in despair, the children are in fear and do not understand what is happening. And here, in Donetsk, were are doing our best to release them”, writes Sergei Kosyak.
